“A Day Without Women”

Female activists across Mexico have come together on a two-part protest to raise awareness of the growing violence and homicides towards women in the country.

Reports show that femicide in Mexico has grown exponentially, wherein 2019, an average of 10 women were killed per day.

On Sunday, the first part of this protest took place during International women’s day, where large crowds of women marched to protest against the growing violence and homicides towards women.

The second part of the protest was promoted as “Un Dia sin Nosotras” or “A Day without Us”. Women across the country went on strike by staying at home for a day. This movement aimed to show what a country would be like without women and send a message across on the importance of women in the workforce and society.
