Bernie Sanders Drops Presidential Bid

On Wednesday morning, Senator Bernie Sanders announced he is dropping out of the presidential race, handing off the nomination to former Vice President Joe Biden.

Despite being one of the top frontrunners during early stages of the race, with major victories in Nevada and New Hampshire caucuses, he quickly began to fall behind candidate Joe Biden, who quickly began to surge in the polls as other candidates dropped out and endorsed him.

Up until this point, Sanders had refused to resign his presidential bid, raising the pressure for Biden. However, he stated he no longer saw a future for his campaign, but claimed his socialist movement remains, and hopes continue to exert influence over democratic party members.
