DOJ Indicts Venezuelan Leader Nicolas Maduro

On Thursday, Department of Justice officials released an indictment against Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and other Venezuelan officials for narcotics and trafficking drugs into the United States.

The Attorney General announced the charges upon which he is being indicted are drug trafficking, narcotics, money laundering and narcoterrorism, based on years of investigations of Maduro's collaborations with Colombian guerrillas to smuggle drugs through Central America and into the US.

The indictment will likely increase tensions between both countries that had already been set previously when the US and over 100 other countries stood behind opposition leader, Juan Guaido, and recognized him as the president of Venezuela.
