WTO and U. N. Concerns on Global Food Supply Chains

The World Trade Organization and U.N. agencies have urged countries to protect trade relations, due to concerns about shortages in food supply across the world.

These organizations raised concerns about the disruptions that the coronavirus pandemic could cause on agriculture and the food industry. The current situation could lead countries to restrict the amount of goods that are exported, thus raising the price of goods and risking perishable goods and increasing food wastes.

Therefore, the WTO and U.N. agencies are urging countries to establish measures to protect trade relations and keep major disruptions on food supply chains under control.
